Parts that should not be transferred are coated with emulsion (a film on the mesh), allowing for the creation of free printing patterns. (In the screen plate manufacturing process, emulsion is applied over the entire surface, and then a desired pattern is cut out using photosensitive emulsion through exposure and development.)
